THE ROLLING STONES BIOGRAPHY

lesson2hero

FORMED: January 1963, London, England
The Rolling Stones define rock 'n' roll. They are the most active period in the history of rock music, having remained popular and prodigiously productive over their 30 year career. The group was formed by Mick Jagger and Keith Richards, who met as high school in Dartford, Kent. Legend has it that collide in the platform at Dartford railway station, where Keith notices a blues under Mick's arm. A bond is struck immediately and the two will form a band with a variety of staff, which will eventually include a boogie-woogie pianist called Ian Stewart and a gifted blues guitarist from Cheltenham called Brian blond Jones (although at the time Elmo Lewis are calling the authenticity of the author). The best way to chronicle the achievements of the Rolling Stones is divided by year:
1962
The stones are just three of a growing circle of musicians who were dedicated to the music of American artists like Chuck Berry, Howlin 'Wolf, Muddy Waters and Elmore James. They play songs of these artists with almost missionary zeal to promote the cause of R & B, and earn enough money to stay alive. In recent months, poor early Stones live in squalor in Edith Grove, London. They beg gigs age, jazz-tinged luminaries like Chris Barber, Cyril Davies and Alexis Korner, however, as is the raw energy of the Stones and the rapid development, which will soon leave behind the world a little jazz purist and divided the establishment of blues.
In July, the Stones took their name from a Muddy Waters song called "Rollin 'Stone Blues" and make their live debut at London's Marquee Club (minus Bill Wyman and Charlie Watts). They start playing pubs and clubs in the city and suburbs. Bill Wyman is joined to the end of the year - the popular story is that he was asked because he had his own amplifier!
1963
In January, Charlie Watts joins the Stones and plays his first gigs. The concerts of the band constantly, with residencies at places like Ealing Jazz Club, Ken Colyer Studio 51 and Eel Pie Island in Twickenham. The public often consist of fellow budding blues musicians like Jimmy Page, Eric Clapton and Pete Townshend. His nights a week full of steam at the Crawdaddy in Richmond Station Hotel result in ecstatic press reviews, and in April a strong engine young man named Andrew Loog Oldham catches the Stones at the Crawdaddy and signs to their society management the following day. This starts the "Would you let your daughter marry a Rolling Stone" press campaign to win the sympathy of the group to the hordes of young people who are a cute little Beatles. The shock waves are still felt today.
In May, the Stones signed with Decca Records by A & R man infamous for rejecting the Beatles. A month later "Come On", the first Rolling Stones single, was released. An older generation recoils in horror as the group performs the song at the top of England local television program "Thank Your Lucky Stars". The song - an obscure Chuck Berry cover - climbs to number 21 in the UK charts. The second single, "I Want to Be Your Man", is given to the group of John Lennon and Paul McCartney after running on the stones in the street. End up writing on the ground. Reaching No. 12. Live concerts are already attracting hordes of screaming teenage girls drown the band.
1964
The group started the year in his first major tour support package U.S. Ronettes, the girl group produced by Phil Spector. In January, the European Parliament Rolling Stones - four covers of the current U.S. rock'n'soul classics - appears. In February, they released a third single, a version of Bo Diddley's "Not Fade Away", with Phil Spector on maracas.
For now the stones are becoming a ferocious R & B machine They ditch the stage uniforms, grow their hair longer and inspire a legion of Lookalikes. No group in history has caused such horror in the older generation. "Not Fade Away" became the Stones' first Top 10 entry, hitting No. 3. The first album immediately sparks controversy for being untitled and not to write on the cover. Reaches No. 1. The record consists mainly of raw caps, fighter heroes like Chuck Berry and Willie Dixon. It also features the first bona fide Jagger / Richards composition, "Tell Me," which was written after Andrew Oldham locked them in the kitchen with the intention of writing some songs. In April, there is no chaos teenagers when they play the NME Pollwinners Concert 'at Wembley Arena.
In June, the band's cover of the Valentinos 'all over now "becomes the Stones' first No. 1 and gold. It was recorded at the legendary Chess Chicago - home of Muddy Waters and other heroes Stones - during the group's first visit to the States of the month. The stones will prior to the explosion of dance music 25 years and head of his fan club "All Night Rave" at Alexandra Palace in London, which also features John Lee Hooker and winds down at 6: 30 am
In August, more Chess material appears on the EP of five by five, and the tops of November, an eventful year with another chart-topper - ". Little Red Rooster", a cover of Willie Dixon
1965
The momentum continues - as the band's superhuman schedule - with a second album in the charts, Rolling Stones 2 Number. In February, the single "The Last Time" (the first A-side to be written by Mick and Keith) also affects # 1.
In August "(I Can not Get No) Satisfaction" is sweeping the world and becomes one of the greatest rock anthems ever. Keith says he awoke in the middle of the night in a motel room with that riff in his head and had to hit there and then. The following month sees the release of Got Live if you want EP - Noise record live show recorded during the first three days of the tour in March in the UK. The output of our Heads album, recorded between the dates of U.S. and a lot of Jagger / Richards gem is released in July. The chart topping "Get Off My Cloud" put the lid on a year full of action.
1966
February sees the single "19th Nervous Breakdown", followed by the innovative, the album Consequences letter vault, in which the Stones began to experiment with different instruments and tracks 11 minutes. Each song is written by Mick and Keith. In May, the expansion of the sound of the Stones is the number one "Paint It Black" single, where Brian's sitar rides the rhythm pounding. September "You have seen your mother baby in the shade?" sees only dabbled with the group's first full-on psychedelia. October last tour in the UK for three years (with Ike & Tina Turner supporting).
1967
Between the Buttons album sees a flowering psychedelic experimentation inclined study the expansion of the current Stones fickle English pop music. In February, Mick and Keith was stopped when the house is raided by Keith Redlands police. Thus began a period of court appearances of high-profile generations divide the nation and the world is believed to be part of a larger conspiracy to silence the Stones incredibly powerful. But despite all the accusations against Jagger, Richards and Jones, no stone went to jail for a long time.
After the fall, the Stones tour Europe literally riotous responses in many cases, and the owner of the hugely popular "Sunday night at the London Palladium" TV show, which made the already controversial "Let's move on the night together "unique and gentle flip" Ruby Tuesday ". They spark more outrage by refusing to ride the silly roundabout at the end of the series.
In August, hastily "We Love You" single is released to thank the public for their support during the testing of Jagger / Richards. Lennon and McCartney appear in the chorus, while Mick and his girlfriend Marianne Faithful return the favor to join the Beatles "All You Need Is Love" from "Our World", the simultaneous transmission of satellite television. In December, the highly experimental Their Satanic Majesties Request album baffles many with its extended psychedelic exploration, but still hits the first three. Much attention is focused on three dimensions sleeve.
1968
In May, the Stones made a surprise appearance at the end of the concert Pollwinners NME '. It is obvious that the group has returned to their blues roots, like tears in the new "Jumpin 'Jack Flash" single "Satisfaction". After the uncertainty of the previous year, the Stones are back to reclaim his crown and Roll Band Rock 'n' in the world. "Jumpin 'Jack Flash" is released the same month and pole vaults to the top. The album Beggars Banquet is assumed to follow in August, but objects to the Stones Decca 'graffiti spattered bathroom wall voids and finally emerges in a white paper cover in December. The album launch party complete with Stones throw cream pies in the faces of Decca executives. The album shows a new maturity and blues raunch and dark and dangerous image summed up in "Sympathy For The Devil".
1969
Following a meeting with members of the band, Brian leaves the Stones on June 8, saying he wants to form a new group. A few days later the Stones held a photo shoot in Hyde Park in London to present their new guitarist, Mick Taylor, who was formerly in John Mayall's Bluesbreakers. He will make his live debut with the Stones at a free concert to be held in the park on July 5, and play in the upcoming "Honky Tonk Women" alone, / "You can not always get what you want."
On July 3, Brian Jones is found dead in a pool of Sussex. Hyde Park concert becomes a memorial to Brian and the group will present their new songs. The bar room raunch classic "Honky Tonk Women" unleashes a week later and shoots to number 1.
The hit album Let It Bleed is released in December, and turns out to be another feast of apocalyptic blues ("Gimme Shelter"), the melodrama obscene ("Midnight Rambler") and more tales from the dark side. The Stones embark on their first U.S. tour since 1966 and in the new climate of the audience to sit and listen, find the new live and sense of occasion that remains with them today. The U.S. tour ends in December with the tragic concert at Altamont Speedway.
1970
Two years after he was shot, the debut of Mick Jagger's film Nic Roeg and Donald Cammell's performance is finally released. Jagger has imprisoned rock star Turner. It is accompanied by a soundtrack to which Mick contributed "Memo from Turner".

The feeling continues in riot rock album of the same name, but the highlight might be considered the unforgettable ballad "Time waits for no one."
The stone / wood connection is approaching when Keith appears in most first solo album from Ronnie, I have my own album to do, and both Taylor and Mick Jagger invited. Keith appears with Ronnie in his performance Kilburn State in July. In December Mick Taylor leaves to pursue a solo career.
1975
After much speculation and a series of recording sessions-with-the auditions in Munich, eventually giving birth to the Black and Blue album, the Stones announced the replacement of Mick Taylor - Ronnie Wood. The dance music-influenced "Miss You" (one of the first 12 "singles) hits the top spot in the U.S. The next LP Some Girls. Mick has a ghetto blaster and play the new "Mixed Emotions" only the world's media gathered. It launched in August and is put back in the graphics group of the world.
Steel Wheels is a classic Stones. An album full of new things, instead of old demos touch as much of the late '70s and output '80 's. The sound is raw and bristling on issues such as the first single, "Mixed Emotions", but the album also shows the band can still offer great ballads like "Almost Hear You Sigh", or Keith lovely "Slippin 'Away."
While the album is generally recognized as the best group in the year, the group make it a double whammy with breathtaking scope and spectacle of the "Steel Wheels" tour. The setting is the largest in history, a surrealist post-nuclear nightmare factory, all beams, fireplaces and bathed in light walkways and walls fierce fire and smoke. The game of horse racing around the Stones more than two hours with each song a piece de resistance - the giant inflatable "Honky Tonk Women" Mick the materialization of one hundred meters above the stage of "Sympathy". For Europe, Steel Wheels gives way to the urban jungle - in part because European stadiums are not big enough for all the great, partly because we only wanted a change of scenery. The new phase resembles a post-nuclear tropical ruin, with the giant inflatable dogs appearing during "Street Fighting Man". Hits London's Wembley Stadium in July, then again in August at the end of the tour, with the resurrection of all the Steel Wheels. Over the past year, the Stones played 115 shows to over six million people.
1991
The five members of the band dives into solo projects. In November, in the London office of financial Stones Rupert Loewenstein advisor, Mick, Keith, Charlie, Ronnie was present for the signing of the agreement with Virgin Records Stones.

During a live interview on the BBC program "London Tonight" news in January, Bill Wyman finally makes it official: "I really do not want it anymore." As for his efforts to prevent the Act quit, says Keith, "I did everything but have at gunpoint." Also in January, Ronnie plays the first of four solo concerts in Japan, finishing 14th at the Budokan in Tokyo. Meanwhile, Mick releases his third solo album, Wandering Spirit. The night of the release, Mick has a private concert for 1,200 guests at Webster Hall in New York. Customers include Robert De Niro and Francis Ford Coppola. After the pre-production in Barbados, the Stones meet in Dublin, Ireland at Windmill studios to begin work on a new album. His first under a new contract with Virgin, the band sees most of the remastered catalog on CD. Don Was is chosen as co-producer of the Voodoo Lounge with Twins dim light. It was, he made his name with the soul of surreal rock 'n' the was it was not, has recently produced Bonnie Raitt, the B-52, Bob Dylan and Iggy Pop, bassist Darryl Jones and keyboardist Chuck Leavell are called to help. Other guests include Ivan Neville, Bobby Womack, Bernard Fowler, Benmont Tench, Flaco Jimenez and Luis Jardim.
The results are amazing. Like most reviews have pointed out, Voodoo Lounge is peak Stones, a group on all cylinders. After the success of the Steel Wheels, the Stones know they have nothing to prove and the new sound seems less self-conscious and more original than his later works. It's the sound of a group meeting and raise hell who know and love. Mick singing is stronger and more expressive than usual, especially in the fight against terrorism chilling ballad "Blinded By Rainbows" and the lascivious car song "Brand New Car", which is in the best tradition of blues double sense. Like all classic albums the Rolling Stones, each song is fueled by explosive guitar riffs and battery-backed Keith fierce Charlie.
The album and its accompanying tour was announced in New York - this time after the group arrives by boat at the dock 60. The tour kicks off August 1 in Washington. DC RFK Stadium, and play the U.S., Canada, Japan, Mexico, South America and the Far East. As Bobby Keys, long time Stones saxophonist, once remarked in a moment of choice during the start of 1971: "It seems that rock 'n' roll is on the road again!"
And how! The Voodoo Lounge tour launches a flurry of praise from critics and fans alike. In the middle game sold out stadiums in the U.S., the Stones find time to pick up an Achievement Award from MTV for life, and a Billboard award for artistic excellence. The band also made history on November 10, when they become the band's first rock 'n' roll to broadcast a concert live over the Internet. Later this year, the Voodoo Lounge album sales exceed the four million mark, and the U.S. side of the tour that is written in the record books as the most successful tour ever.
1995
The year began on a regular basis Stones breath - this time due to the high altitude of Mexico City Autodromo Stadium. The lack of oxygen was not a problem throughout the South American leg of the tour. Having never played South America as a band before, the Stones are greeted with a hysterical fever pitch that is overwhelming, even for American standards. In Argentina, are harassed wherever they go and stay awake at 5:00 am repeats the chorus of "Wild Horses".

The band sweep through South Africa, a seven-night sell-out stand at the Tokyo Dome, and Australasia before embarking on the final leg of the tour in Europe on June 3 in Stockholm. In Montpellier, they are joined on stage by Bob Dylan for the aptly-titled "Like a Rolling Stone." The band later release their version of the song as a single. While on the road, the band find time to stop and record acoustic versions of classics like "Street Fighting Man," and more arcane numbers like "Spider and the Fly" and "I'm Free." These tracks make up the live acoustic album Stripped. The tour ends in Rotterdam on August 30 with the promise that this will definitely not be the last time.

While the release of Stripped is seen as a present-day celebration of past glories, the Stones end the year by re-enforcing their commitment to the future by making it enhanced with multimedia content. The band also launch their second official website (Stonesworld) and release their debut CD-ROM (Voodoo Lounge).

1996

Even when not active, the Stones are everywhere, with music featured in Casino (released late in '95), Basquiat (in which Keith also has a song called "Nearness to You" recorded in 1980), and The Fan. Meanwhile, the band once again get involved in solo projects. Charlie Watts is the first to break cover with the release of his quintet's Long Ago & Far Away, which features classics from the likes of Cole Porter, Duke Ellington, Louis Armstrong and Hoagy Carmichael. At his home in Jamaica, Keith completes production work on an album which features traditional Rastafarian Bingi drums (to be released later this year).

1997

The Stones continue to redefine rock music and themselves in the process. The ageless rockers begin recording the follow-up to Voodoo Lounge in a Los Angeles studio with executive producer Don Was and producer Kenneth "Babyface" Edmonds. The Dust Brothers (Beck, the Beastie Boys) take over behind the mixing board, with mixer/producer Danny Saber (who has re-mixed tracks for U2 and Garbage) and Was also producing a few songs each. Bridges To Babylon is released in the fall.

1998

In November, the Stones chronicle their 1998 tour with the release of No Security, their third live album of the decade.

BOB DYLAN BIOGRAPHY

lesson2hero

Folk / rock songwriter and singer Bob Dylan was born Robert Allen Zimmerman on May 24, 1941, in Duluth, Minnesota. While attending college, he began performing folk and country music, taking the name "Bob Dylan". In 1961, Dylan signed his first record contract. Showing no signs of slowing down, Dylan has continued to travel in recent years and released their last studio album in April 2009.Early life
Folk / rock singer, songwriter. Born Robert Allen Zimmerman on May 24, 1941, in Duluth, Minnesota. Driven by the influences of early rock stars like Elvis Presley, Jerry Lee Lewis and Little Richard (who used to imitate on the piano in high school dances), the young Dylan formed his own band, including The Golden Chord and a group that led under the pseudonym Elston Gunn. While attending the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis, he began performing folk and country music in the local cafés, taking the name "Bob Dylan" in honor of the late Welsh poet Dylan Thomas.

Popular songIn 1960, Dylan left college and moved to New York, where his idol, the legendary folk singer Woody Guthrie was hospitalized with a rare inherited disease of the nervous system. Dylan visited with Guthrie regularly in his hospital room, but also became a regular at folk clubs and coffeehouses of Greenwich Village, met a lot of other musicians, and began writing songs at an astonishing rate , including "Song to Woody", a tribute to his hero in crisis. In the fall of 1961, after one of his performances received a rave review in The New York Times, Dylan signed a recording contract with Columbia Records. Launched in early 1962, Bob Dylan contained only two original songs, but showed rough voice singing Dylan as a series of versions of traditional songs and blues songs.
The 1963 release of The Freewheelin 'Bob Dylan marked Dylan's emergence as one of the most original and poetic voices in the history of American popular music. The album includes two of the most memorable songs of 1960 folk, "Blowin 'in the Wind" (which later became a huge success for the people of the trio Peter, Paul and Mary) and "A Hard Rain A-Gonna Fall ". Their next album, The Times They Are A-Changin ', firmly established as the definitive composer Dylan protest movement 60 years, a reputation that only increased after he became involved with one of the established icons of the movement, Joan Baez, in 1963. Although his relationship with Baez lasted only two years, which benefited immensely both artists in their music careers, Dylan wrote some of Baez's best-known material and Baez introduced him to thousands of fans through their concerts. In 1964, Dylan was playing 200 concerts a year, but had tired of his role as "the" singer of the protest movement. The Other Side of Bob Dylan, recorded in 1964, was much more personal, introspective collection of songs, and much less politically charged than Dylan's previous efforts.Reinvent its image
In 1965, Dylan scandalized many of his folkie fans by recording half of the acoustic half electric album Bringing It All Back Home, supported by a band of nine pieces. On July 25, 1965, was booed at the famous Newport Folk Festival when performed electrically for the first time. The albums that followed, Highway 61 Revisited (1965), which included the rock song "Like a Rolling Stone" and two-disc set Blonde on Blonde (1966) represented Dylan at its most innovative. With his unmistakable voice and unforgettable lyrics, Dylan brought the world of music and literature together as no one had done.Over the next three decades, Dylan continued to reinvent itself. Following a motorcycle accident that nearly cost him in July 1966, Dylan spent almost a year recovering in seclusion. His next two albums, John Wesley Harding (1968), including "All Along the Watchtower", later recorded by guitar great Jimi Hendrix and unabashedly countryish Nashville Skyline (1969) were much softer than his previous works. Critics criticized the two-disc set Self-Portrait (1970) and Tarantula, a long-awaited collection of writings Dylan published in 1971, also met with poor reception. In 1973, Dylan appeared in Pat Garrett and Billy the Kid, a film directed by Sam Peckinpah. He also wrote the soundtrack for the film, which became a success and featured the now classic song, "Knockin 'on Heaven's Door."Touring and Religion
In 1974, Dylan began his first tour on a large scale since his accident, embarking on a sold-out tour across the country with his backing band for a long time the band. An album he recorded with the band, Planet Waves, became his first No. 1 album ever. He followed this success with the album Blood 1975 held on the slopes and the desire (1976), each of them reached number one as well. Desire included the song "Hurricane," written by Dylan about the boxer Rubin "Hurricane" Carter, and then sentenced to life in prison after what many considered wrongful conviction in 1967 triple homicide. Dylan was one of many public figures who helped popularize Carter's cause, leading to a retrial in 1976, when he was convicted again.
After a painful breakup with his wife, Sara Lowndes, the song "Sara" in the desire was the intent of complainers, but without success Lowndes Dylan to win back-Dylan again reinvented himself, declaring in 1979 that he was a born-again Christian. The train was slow coming evangelical commercial success and won Dylan his first Grammy. The tour and albums that followed were less successful, however, and Dylan's religious leanings soon became less obvious in his music.Rock Star Status
From the decade of 1980, Dylan began touring full time, sometimes with fellow legends Tom Girl and the Heartbreakers and the Grateful Dead. Notable albums during this period included Infidels (1983), five-disc retrospective Biograph (1985), Knocked Out Loaded (1986) and Oh Mercy (1989), which became his best-received album in years. He recorded two albums with the band of stars of the Traveling Wilburys, George Harrison also, the late Roy Orbison, Tom Petty and Jeff Lynne. In 1994, Dylan returned to his folk roots, winning the Grammy Award for Best Traditional Folk Album for World Gone Wrong.
In 1989, when Dylan was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, Bruce Springsteen spoke at the ceremony, stating that "Bob freed the mind the way Elvis freed the body ... He invented a new form of a pop singer may sound, breaking the limitations of what an artist can achieve, and changed the face of rock and roll forever. "In 1997, Dylan became the first rock star to receive Kennedy Center Honors, considered the highest award the nation for its artistic excellence.
1997 Dylan album Time Out of Mind reestablished this icon once popular as one of the preeminent rock wise men, winning three Grammy Awards. He continued his vigorous touring schedule, including a memorable performance in 1997 by Pope John Paul II in which he played "Knockin 'on Heaven's Door," and a 1999 tour with Paul Simon. In 2000, he recorded the single "Things have changed" for the soundtrack of the film Wonder Boys, starring Michael Douglas. The Dylan song won a Golden Globe and an Oscar for Best Original Song.
Dylan took time out of their music to tell the story of his life. The singer released Chronicles: Volume One, the first of a series of memoirs of three books, in the fall of 2004. Dylan gave his first interview in 20 years to complete a documentary released in 2005. Entitled No Direction Home: Bob Dylan, the film was directed by Martin ScorseseRecent Work
In 2006, Dylan released the studio album of modern times. After arriving in stores in late August, which reached the top of the charts the following month. A mixture of blues, country and folk, the album was praised for its excellent sound and images. Critics also said the album had a playful quality, knowing. Showing no signs of slowing down, Dylan continued to travel throughout the first decade of the 21st century, and released the album together for life in April 2009. In 2010, he released an album called The Witmark Demos bootleg, followed by a new box titled Bob Dylan: the original mono recordings. It also exposes 40 of his original paintings for a solo exhibition at the National Gallery of Denmark. In 2011, launched a new live album, Bob Dylan in Concert - Brandeis University 1963. He also announced dates for its concerts in Taiwan, Vietnam and Australia.
Dylan and Lowndes, who married in 1965 and divorced in 1977, had four children: Jesse, Anna, Samuel, and Jakob. Dylan also adopted Lowndes daughter, Mary, from a previous marriage. Jakob Dylan is now the lead singer of a popular rock band, the Wallflowers.
